Posted Date: July 7, 2024

To Our Customers,

We are currently monitoring Hurricane Beryl as it approaches the southern Texas coast between Angleton and Brownsville, Texas. Wind, rain and coastal flooding could begin as early as Monday morning July 8. As a result, we are taking precautionary actions to suspend operations beginning Sunday evening through Monday evening.

We are making preparations along our network to respond quickly to potential outages. Measures taken in advance of the storm include:

  • Staging generators, rail ballast and panels, additional diesel fuel, and supplemental transportation for crews.
  • Our Signal Team will begin securing rail crossing signal gates.
  • Water pumps have been strategically positioned to mitigate damage.
  • We’ve established a Command Center to facilitate emergency coordination.

To ensure you are properly prepared, please visit our Hurricane Planning and Recovery page, which outlines best practices to follow during the hurricane season.

As conditions develop, we will continue to provide updates on this weather system and the status of our network. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
