Posted Date: January 11, 2017
To Our Customers,
As severe winter weather continues to impact the Western Region, customers may expect delays in excess of 48 hours for shipments moving across the affected area as well as between Portland south into Northern California.
Service Interruptions
Operations have been suspended between Wallula and Spokane, Washington due to an interruption south of Spokane. We are currently evaluating options to reroute traffic around the affected area; however, customer shipments may experience delays in excess of 48 hours.
Operations continue to remain suspended in the Feather River Canyon near Portola, California and west of Winnemucca, Nevada due to washouts, with some traffic being rerouted around the affected locations. Alternate routes remain open over Donner Pass; however, the route has also been affected by multiple interruptions from snowslides, rockslides and mudslides, with delays of 24-48 hours expected.
Outages due to flooding in the Sacramento Delta and South of San Jose, California along the coast have interrupted through-service and local operations, with alternate routes being utilized in the San Joaquin Valley. We are still recovering our operation from the service interruptions over the Pacific Northwest route in Eastern Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming, which has impacted through-service between Portland and Chicago. Local service for customers around Portland, Hinkle and Pocatello has also been impacted by these service interruptions.
