Update on Southern Plains Flooding
Announcement Number: CN2016-14
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: June 3, 2016
To Our Customers,
Continued rainy conditions across the Southern Plains have caused more than 25 subdivisions in the area to experience outages over the past two weeks. At this point, all but two of those have been repaired and are currently in service. However, many of them are in the path of more storms expected through Saturday evening.
The Baird subdivision, located west of Dallas, is expected to be back in service sometime this evening. It is expected to take a couple days before traffic traversing that subdivision is completely fluid again. The Glidden subdivision, located between Houston and San Antonio, has experienced extensive damage near the Brazos river. It is expected to be out of service for as many as 14 days.
We are currently looking at rerouting through areas not currently impacted by flooding. Customers with shipments traversing the Southern Plains should expect delays of up to 72 hours while we work to bring our network back to normal service levels. After Saturday, conditions are expected to improve in the Southern Plains with no rain in the forecast for the following five to six days. We will use this time to continue making repairs and to work off the backlog of traffic.
